On June 20, 2026, the Chinese American Community Health Services (CACHS) hosted a dual celebration at the Worldshine Adult Medical Day Care Center to mark the graduation of its 2026 “Happy Seniors” (老有所乐) program and to celebrate the traditional Dragon Boat Festival. Sponsored by the Asian American Health Initiative (AAHI) under Montgomery County’s Department of Health and Human Services, this community wellness program offers free bi-annual sessions including health education, resource navigation, and social support tailored for local Chinese American seniors. The graduation event brought together over 70 participants, volunteers, and distinguished guests, including AAHI Grant Officer Angela Belisario and the CACHS leadership team. The celebration featured an informative healthcare seminar on navigating Medicare and Medicaid led by insurance expert Liu-Chang Peng, followed by a vibrant cultural showcase that included traditional dances, singing, Tai Chi, and Dragon Boat Festival-themed riddle games. Through these interactive efforts, CACHS successfully fostered a strong sense of community, addressed social isolation among senior immigrants, and reinforced its non-profit mission of providing essential community health services.
