From Teacher Inanna

In Spring of 2025, I had the opportunity to work with Chinese American Community Health Services, CACHS for short, as an online English Teacher. It was a remarkable experience! I taught elderly students of varying English abilities, from beginners to advanced language learners. I covered different topics important to everyday life because they provide practical language skills and it allows students to navigate their environment and connect with others. It was wonderful watching them grow more comfortable and confident in reading, listening, and communicating in English. The assistant teachers were also very involved and helpful, taking the time to use Chinese to explain any lesson material that was confusing or difficult.

Aside from teaching, I was very impressed with the organization of the online class. The moderators would sign online early to help guide students and assistant teachers to the right class. They would also stay late after class to help answer any questions. The class sizes were not too large or small. They were the perfect size to keep everyone focused, and to also allow me to identify areas of lessons that needed to be reviewed again. The students were very focused, driven, and an absolute delight to work with. CACHS staff were kind, patient, helpful, and very professional. Teaching for CACHS has been one of the best experiences that I have had.
