On October 4, 2025, the Chinese American Community Health Services (CACHS) hosted the 2025 Virginia Fairfax Health Service Day at the Jim Scott Community Center. This event was co-organized with the Coordinating Committee of Chinese American Associations (CCCAA) and the Health Betterment Initiative (HBI).
Event Highlights and Services
Service Population: Nearly 50 residents from diverse backgrounds—including Chinese, Asian, Latino, and other ethnic groups—received free healthcare services.
Comprehensive Screenings: Attendees received blood tests, BMI and weight checks, blood pressure monitoring, and vision, hearing, and bone density screenings.
Medical Consultations: A team of medical volunteers, led by family physician Dr. Benson Yu, provided on-site specialist consultations and flu vaccinations.
Community Impact: The program specifically targets new immigrants and residents without health insurance who may face language and cultural barriers to regular medical care.
Volunteer and Official Support
Notable Volunteers: Over 30 volunteers participated, ranging from high school students to Professor Yining Wang, an 88-year-old co-founder of CACHS.
Government Recognition: Dr. Gloria Addo-Ayensu, the Fairfax County Health Director, visited the event to thank the volunteers for their selfless community service.
