Brief Summary of the 2025 Annual CACHS Volunteer Training

Training Overview

On December 7, 2025, CACHS conducted its annual volunteer training session at the AA Plus Adult Medical Day Care Center. The event, attended by 33 core team members and lead volunteers, focused on standardizing service protocols and improving quality of care. It also marked the official launch of the 2026 Asian American Health Initiative (AAHI) Health Community Fund (HCF) project.

Key Training Topics

The training session, hosted by Executive Director Dr. Ningping Feng, featured three primary presentations:

  • Roles and Responsibilities: Dr. Shuling Zhang discussed the vital role of community health workers and the future of CACHS in providing sustainable community services.
  • HIPAA and Data Privacy: Dr. Lizhen Wang provided an in-depth explanation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), emphasizing the 18 types of information that must be removed to de-identify patient data.
  • Case Studies: Dr. Chongfei Jin analyzed six real-world examples of HIPAA violations involving medical professionals and healthcare providers to help volunteers avoid similar mistakes.

Future Outlook for 2026

With support from the AAHI Health Community Fund, CACHS announced its service plan for the upcoming fiscal year. The organization will continue to offer:

  • The “Joy of Aging” senior social program and English learning clubs.
  • Health service days, free physical exams, and educational seminars.
